Course Description

LEAD 568I: Global Perspectives in Higher Education (3 units) 

The purpose of this course is to provide students with an opportunity to explore, discuss, reflect, and analyze issues of access and equity from a global perspective. These issues include but are not limited to access, equity, economic development, and social mobility. Particular attention will be paid to historical developments and interventions (e.g. affirmative action and other initiatives) from the government, non-government organizations, and private and public universities seeking to address educational opportunity and/or economic innovation. The specific focus of this course will be contingent upon the geographical location as the international context impacts the critical issues addressed.

Notes about program costs:

1. TUITION for this program is at the reduced SOLES Global tuition rate of $880/unit.
2. TRAVEL EXPENSES are estimated at $1,795. The program fee includes on-site logistical items such as lodging, classroom rentals, speakers, some group activities, meals and transportation to class activities. If you apply and are accepted to this program then withdraw, any costs incurred on your behalf will be charged to your student account.
3. GLOBAL STUDY FEE is $400. A non-refundable charge of $150 will be placed on your student account for all withdrawals after Aug 16th. Any withdrawal on or after Aug 26th, the entire $400 will be placed on your student account.
4. ACCOMMODATION costs are built into the program.  Housing is provided from January 1 (check in date) to January 7 (check out date). Additional housing charges may be assessed if students drop the class after hotel accommodations are made on their behalf. Accepted students will be provided with further information regarding the group hotel and will be asked their housing preferences.
5. AIRFARE is not charged to your student account. Students are responsible for purchasing their own airfare. Please check current airfare using your departure and return cities for a more accurate estimate.
6. WITHDRAWAL/REFUND POLICY.  If at any point after enrolling in the program you decide that you wish to cancel your participation, you must submit written notification to the Global Center <>. The application window for the program is from September 8th, 2020 at 12:00pm to September 29th, 2020 at 11:59PM. To be considered for acceptance, your online application must be complete by this date.  Applicants will be notified of acceptance by October 15th, 2020.
