Once faculty hotel is secured, the location will be shared with you so that you may book accommodations either at the same hotel, or close by (Airbnb, etc.) as you so choose. 5. In addition to tuition, round-trip flight ticket, accommodations, and program fee, participants will be responsible for paying for ground transportation as needed (to/from airports, accommodations, classrooms, cultural activities, etc.), meals not on the group itinerary, and personal spending money.

Passport & Visa Information

Melbourne, Australia

Australia requires travelers to carry a valid passport for entry into the country. It is the responsibility of students to ensure that their passport is valid for the necessary duration of time.

U.S. citizens are required to obtain a tourist visa for entry into Australia through the Electronic Travel Authority, this process costs $20.00 in additional fees. If you are not a U.S. citizen, click here to see if you will need a visa.

If your passport is due to expire less than 6 months past the planned date of departure from Spain, please start the renewal process immediately. Due to COVID-19, passport renewal processing times are highly inflated, and even expedited processing can take up to six months.

USD Requirements for Study Abroad Participation

USD requires that all students and guests traveling internationally on a group program be in compliance with USD's Vaccination Requirement. This means that participants must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 no later than 14 days prior to departure, or else have received an approved exemption to the Vaccination Requirement from the Student Health Center. Participants will be required to confirm their vaccination status by either uploading their vaccination cards, or by confirming their receipt of an Student Health Center exemption, via the online study abroad application following acceptance to the program abroad.

IMPORTANT: Although USD allows for exempted unvaccinated students to participate on programs abroad, unvaccinated students may encounter additional restrictions in the host country, and should take care to review host country entry requirements and on-ground restrictions and safety measures (see next section).

Host Country Entry Requirements & In-Country Safety Measures

Melbourne, Australia

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS for Australia have been updated as of July 6, 2022.  While no testing or vaccination mandates are currently in place, all flights to Australia require passengers to wear masks.  Please follow the link to find up-to-date travel requirements issued through Australia's Department of Home Affairs.

USA Re-Entry Requirements

For All Travelers

Currently, the United States does not require that travelers flying into the United States from abroad obtain a negative COVID test resultParticipants who are undertaking independent travel following the close of the program will be responsible for researching and coordinating their own COVID tests as needed. For full information on this requirements, please review the CDC's announcement.

For Unvaccinated Travelers

In accord with CDC guidelines, USD exempted unvaccinated travelers must also:

  • Get tested with a viral test 3-5 days after travel AND stay home and self-quarantine for a full 7 days after travel.
  • Even if you test negative, stay home and self-quarantine for the full 7 days.
  • If your test is positive, isolate yourself to protect others from getting infected.
  • If you don’t get tested, stay home and self-quarantine for 10 days after travel.
  • Avoid being around people who are at increased risk for severe illness for 14 days, whether you get tested or not.
  • Self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms; isolate and get tested if you develop symptoms.
  • Follow all state and local recommendations or requirements.

COVID-19 Contingency

A contingency plan to offer MSBA 510 International Consulting Project will be effected in the event one of the following two scenarios occurs:

  • The host country imposes a travel ban affecting all non-essential travelers arriving from the US which prevents students from being able to enter the country come January 10, 2023
  • USD decides to cancel study abroad programming due to worsening COVID-19 conditions in the host country

Should one of these situations arise, MSBA 510 International Consulting Project will be offered on USD’s campus. Students will still be expected to work with clients virtually to complete their consulting projects. Space will be available for students to work together on USD’s campus during the regularly scheduled course dates.

In the event of either of the aforementioned scenarios, tuition will remain at the above-posted rate. The program fee will be refunded. Students would need to work with their airlines and accommodation providers to obtain credits/refunds.
