COLOMBIA: Bogotá
Universided de los Andes School of Management
Fall/Spring Semester Program
PROGRAM LOCATION
Bogotá is a city of contrasts, and as such it offers a unique experience to its visitors. Prepare to find a hectic balance between the new and the old; the peaceful and the frantic. Encounter century-old plazas and churches shadowed by towering skyscrapers. Find peaceful treelined bicycle routes cut through by wild-traffic avenues. Bogota is a city with many layers. From internationally recognized universities to regional offices for multinational companies, Bogota is Colombia's capital for official business dealings. It is a city that caters to a population that has been exposed to European and North American influences, which ensures that anything from traditional dishes (Ajiaco) to sushi or fast food restaurants can be found. It's one of the most modern and metropolitan cities of South, Central America and the world.
ACADEMIC INSTITUTION
Students enroll directly in the Universidad de los Andes School of Management. Founded in 1948, the Universidad de los Andes, located in Bogotá, the capital of Colombia is a private institution which promotes autonomy, responsibility and openness of mind within its community. Since 1972, the Universidad de los Andes School of Management has developed, through its academic programs and research activities, a consolidated school that promotes constant interaction between students, teachers, staff and the corporate world. The school's objective is to educate socially responsible people that embrace an international perspective and that are capable of creating, understanding and furthering the advancement of organizations. Universidad de los Andes enrolls more than 800 students in both graduate and undergraduate programs and attracts more than 4,000 participants each year through its executive education programs.
Since its creation, the Los Andes campus has been located in historic
downtown Bogotá, making it easily accessible to visitors. This location
not only houses the majority of the historic landmarks, but is also home
to a concentration of universities, local and central government
buildings, banks, important private sector organizations and a variety
of cultural and tourist activities ranging from libraries, museums,
theaters, scientific and literary centers to art galleries. The
university campus was constructed by remodeling already existing
industrial and religious buildings in the area, by building some new
state of the art infrastructure; and by creating an environment that is
active, supportive, safe and friendly for its student.
Business courses offered in English and Spanish. An essay in Spanish explaining the reasons why you want to study at Universidad de los Andes is required in the application process.
