St. Clare's

St. Clare's University

Fall/Spring Semester Program

Oxford , an internationally respected intellectual center, combines traditional ceremony and the beauty of ancient buildings with the amenities of a lively, modern, industrial city. This cultural hub offers libraries, museums, art galleries, concert halls, theaters and cinemas, as well as parks and gardens, rivers, sports grounds, swimming pools and an ice rink. Just outside of the city center lies the picturesque countryside, easily reached by bus or bicycle. There are fast, frequent road and rail services to London, Heathrow, Gatwick, the Midlands and the West Country. Stratford-upon-Avon is also within easy reach.

This program, offered by St. Clare's, an independent international college in Oxford founded in 1953, is for international and University students who wish to supplement their studies with a semester or full-year of liberal arts courses in England. The curriculum includes both core courses and tutorials (special courses offered on a one-on-one basis with select professors). The fall semester runs from the end of August until mid-December; the spring semester from early January to mid-May.

Students stay in residence hall style accommodations arranged by St. Clare's. You can choose between a twin or a single room. You can also choose a 'standard' or 'superior' room: students in standard rooms will be sharing a bathroom with a small number of other students, while students in superior rooms will have their own private shower and toilet.

  • Students live in 5 houses, located within 15 minutes' walk the Bardwell Road Centre or a short bus ride away
  • All College houses have a resident House Manager
  • Bed linen and towels are provided
  • Laundry facilities are available
More housing information is available here: St. Clare's Housing

PLEASE NOTE: The vast majority of students who choose to stay in the dorms do NOT choose to include meals with their housing, as the semester meal plan only includes lunch Monday-Friday. Students will have access to a kitchen, and in many cases, it ends up being more economical to cook and eat out than pay for the meal plan. Additionally, because of your course schedule, you might not be near the cafeteria around lunchtime.
