ACADEMIC INSTITUTION

This program is offered through an exchange with Instituto tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Occidente (ITESO) in Guadalajara.  The USD/ITESO semester exchange program is ideal for students majoring in Spanish or those with a primary interest in improving their Spanish-speaking skills. Because this is an exchange program, students are able to use their USD financial aid for two semesters of study at ITESO.

ITESO is the only university in Jalisco to receive the Registration as an Institution of Academic Excellence, awarded by Mexico's Ministry of Public Education. With a faculty made up of professionals and researchers recognized as leaders in their field, together with up-to-date curricula and facilities designed to stimulate the development of students' multiple dimensions, ITESO offers a solid preparation for life. It is the first private university of the central-western region of Mexico to offer graduate programs of excellence recognized by the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT, in its initials in Spanish) and the Mexican Society for the Public Communication of Science and Technology (SOMEDICYT). Among private universities in the country, ITESO has the greatest number of professors in the National System of Researchers (SNI), the greatest number of books published, as well as an outstanding library.

ITESO is the Jesuit University of Guadalajara, in Mexico. Founded in 1957, it belongs to the network of over 200 Jesuit universities around the world. It shares with them a 450-year-old educational tradition, historically located at the focal point of world thought and recognized for preparing leaders in all fields of the arts and sciences. As ITESO is a private university, with approximately 8,800 students and is administered by the Society of Jesus, there is a close relationship between students and professors. The campus is characterized by a sense of free thinking and responsibility.
