APPLICATION FEE
Upon submission of an application, the student agrees to pay a NON-REFUNDABLE application fee. This will be billed via USD Student Accounts and should be paid directly to USD. This amount is charged regardless of any application fees paid directly to a host university or program provider.

DOUBLE DEGREE STUDENT ONLY ADDITIONAL FEES:
Students participating in the Double Degree program abroad may be required to pay an additional supplemental fees. Additional fees are paid directly to the partner abroad.

TUITION 
Because this study abroad program is partnered with USD, students will pay USD tuition in order to potentially receive financial aid benefits (please check with USD's Office of Financial Aid).
Tuition (12-18 units) is paid directly to USD. Students will be billed via USD Student Accounts. Tuition payment is due in full by the published semester/term due date. Review the deadlines online: Tuition Refund Schedule.
HOUSING
Students find their own independent housing while living in Madrid. Comillas provides recommended providers, but does not assist with finding housing.


ADDITIONAL ESTIMATED EXPENSES
The following budget items are for student planning purposes only, as they are estimates of additional expenses.  Actual costs vary greatly depending on the individual student:
  • Additional meals
  • Local transportation
  • Personal expenses
  • Personal travel
  • Roundtrip airfare
  • Textbooks
  • Government / Student Visa Fees (Included if you participate in the USD Batch Visa appointment)
  • Housing deposit (deposit will refunded at the end of the semester should there be no damage to the apartment, outstanding fines, etc)

Travel insurance (strongly recommended): This will cover the cost of your flight in the event of an emergency (needing to cancel at the last minute or return home earlier than expected). The price will vary based on the overall cost of your airline ticket. Contact your travel agent or Ken Darrow at Universal Travel (858-456-7887) to learn more about this coverage and approximate costs.

INTERNATIONAL INSURANCE
All students participating in a USD-affiliated study abroad program are covered by USD's international insurance policy through ACE/EuropAssist.
