APPLICATION FEE
Upon submission of an application, the student agrees to pay a NON-REFUNDABLE application fee. This will be billed via USD Student Accounts and should be paid directly to USD. This amount is charged regardless of any application fees paid directly to a host university or program provider.

TUITION
Because this study abroad program is partnered with USD, students will pay USD tuition in order to potentially receive financial aid benefits (please check with USD's Office of Financial Aid).

Tuition (12-18 units) is paid directly to USD. Students will be billed via USD Student Accounts. Tuition payment is due in full by the published semester/term due date. Review the deadlines online: Tuition Refund Schedule.
CEA limits the number of courses that students can take at the contracted universities in Prague (AAU and UNYP). IF students choose to take more courses at these institutions than allowed in their CEA applicaiton, they will be charged an additional $1500 per course by CEA directly.

INTERNATIONAL HEALTH INSURANCE
All students participating in a USD-affiliated study abroad program are covered by USD's comprehensive blanket international insurance through AXA. Coverage includes medical care and assistance as well as security assistance. For more information on USD's international insurance policy, please visit the Health and Safety page.

ESTIMATED HOUSING & PROGRAM SUPPORT FEES (billed directly by partner abroad)
Housing costs will vary depending on the type of accommodation selected. Students will pay CEA directly for housing and other program support fees.

ADDITIONAL ESTIMATED EXPENSES
The following budget items are for student planning purposes only, as they are estimates of additional expenses.  Actual costs vary greatly depending on the individual student:
  • Additional meals $700-$1200
  • Local transportation $100
  • Personal expenses $200-$800
  • Personal travel varies
  • Roundtrip airfare $1500
  • Textbooks $100
  • Any listed course fees ($25-$50 for select courses)
  • Government / Student Visa Fees $165
  • Housing deposit (deposit will refunded at the end of the semester should there be no damage to the apartment, outstanding fines, etc) varies

Travel insurance (strongly recommended): This will cover the cost of your flight in the event of an emergency (needing to cancel at the last minute or return home earlier than expected). The price will vary based on the overall cost of your airline ticket. Contact your travel agent or Ken Darrow at Universal Travel (858-456-7887) to learn more about this coverage and approximate costs.

Students will also be subject to the partner institution’s cancellation policy.
