APPLICATION FEE
Upon submission of an application, the student agrees to pay a NON-REFUNDABLE application fee. This will be billed via USD Student Accounts and should be paid directly to USD. This amount is charged regardless of any application fees paid directly to a host university or program provider.
TUITION 
Because this study abroad program is partnered with USD, students will pay USD tuition in order to potentially receive financial aid benefits (please check with USD's Office of Financial Aid).

Tuition (12-18 units) is paid directly to USD. Students will be billed via USD Student Accounts. Tuition payment is due in full by the published semester/term due date. Review the deadlines online: Tuition Refund Schedule
ADDITIONAL ESTIMATED EXPENSES
Semester at Sea students are encouraged to keep the following discretionary costs in mind when budgeting for their voyage:
  • 1-2 overnight stays prior to embarkation
  • Flights to embarkation/from debarkation 
  • Travel visas 
  • Textbooks 
  • SAS Personal & Field Programs 
  • Immunizations
  • Local Transportation 
  • Between-meal food and drinks while on board (varies based on personal habits)
  • Laundry 
  • Independent travel (varies based on personal choices) 

INTERNATIONAL INSURANCE
All students participating in a USD-affiliated study abroad program are covered by USD's comprehensive blanket international insurance through AXA. Coverage includes medical care and assistance as well as security assistance. For more information on USD's international insurance policy, please visit the Health and Safety page. 
CANCELLATION POLICY
Students are subject to USD’s Semester Program Cancellation Policy found on the International Center Policies page. 
Students will also be subject to the partner institution’s cancellation policy.
