STUDY ABROAD PROGRAM: Semester at Sea Spring 2012 Voyage

INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE: I spent a semester on the MV Explorer circumnavigating the world. While on this voyage we traveled to 12 different countries. We started in the Bahamas then went to Dominica, Brazil, Ghana, South Africa, Mauritius, India, Singapore, Vietnam, China, Japan, Hawaii, and ended right here in San Diego.

WHY I WANTED TO BE A PEER ADVISOR IN THE STUDY ABROAD OFFICE: Semester at Sea was the best decision that I have ever made. I was able to learn so much about the world and myself.  I wanted to be an International Peer Advisor because I want to share the enthusiasm that I now hold for traveling. I want to get people as excited about traveling as I am. I know that thinking about going abroad can be a really intimidating experience but when I heard people talk about it, with the enthusiasm that I now hold, all my fears of going to a foreign country were gone. I have so much passion for abroad studies and I want to pass that on in any way I can, whether it be by talking to people about my experiences or giving them information on places that they could go to.

BEST ADVICE FOR STUDENTS PLANNING TO STUDY ABROAD: Take chances and don't be afraid to try new things. This is an experience that will stay with you forever and you want to get the most out of it. No matter where you decide to go you will find new things to try. Get to
know the Locals. They are enthusiastic to share their country with you and they will show you a whole other side to the country. Have fun! This is such an amazing experience that you are about to have so be adventurous and make it as memorable as possible.
