General Second Year Abroad Program Information:

Through a values-based education, students learn to respect diverse human values, challenge existing global perspectives, and develop a deeper understanding of worldwide interconnectedness. Globally competent students are able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary for successful interactions locally and globally and maintain connections to facilitate personal and professional growth. Beginning with the entering class in Fall 2009, University of San Diego presents: Second Year Experience Abroad: Developing Global Citizenship through the Core Curriculum.
This program is a very unique initiative that has been specially designed for the incoming Freshman class each year. During Intersession of your second year, you will have the opportunity to study abroad in one of three truly exceptional locations: China, Italy and Spain. This program offers students the chance to earn core curriculum credit in a variety of disciplines such as:
- Art History
- Communication Studies
- Ethics
- History
- Languages & Literatures
- Theology
Tentative Schedule for Second Year Experience Abroad Participants:
December 1: Application and deposit ($500) deadline for program
January: Students are confirmed in location and course
February: Application and deposit deadline for program (for new students who enter as freshman in Spring)
Spring: Students participate in two small group activities with fellow program participants on campus
Fall: International Workshops
January of Sophomore Year: Go Abroad!
Spring of Sophomore Year: Program reunions on campus
