How to Apply

Congratulations on taking your first step towards studying abroad. Please follow the instructions below to apply to a USD International Study Abroad program. Hard copies of some materials must be submitted to the International Center, but most of the application process (including questionnaires and signature documents) can be done through our website at your convenience. And if there is something that you're missing, our software will remind you starting a few weeks before the application deadlines. Watch for these reminders to come from internationalstudies@sandiego.edu. If you have any questions, please contact an International Studies Abroad advisor.

1.  "Apply Now"
Once on the program page of your program of interest, click on the "Apply Now" link found at the top or bottom of the webpage. Follow the instructions to create your own personal homepage by logging in with your USD MySanDiego login and password.

2.  Complete the Application Pieces
On your personal homepage, you will see a checklist of everything you need to do. In addition to a non-refundable application fee, there are three types of documents that must be submitted: material submissions, signature documents, and questionnaires. Please click on each document for instructions and details.

You can only apply to two programs per term.   Please keep in mind that you are responsible for meeting application deadlines.

Please read and follow all instructions carefully. Every item listed on your applicant home page is necessary in order for your application to be complete.

3.  Login and Check for Updates
After you have completed the application, check your homepage and USD e-mail on a regular basis  for reminders of items that you have not yet submitted. You can check and manage your homepage anytime by clicking on "Login" in the upper right hand corner of the page. You will receive your decision notification through e-mail on the decision date as listed under "Deadlines" in the top menu.
Deadlines are firm and you must submit all application pieces in order for your application to be reviewed. To see if you have submitted all necessary documents, review the checklist on your homepage. If you have questions, please contact an International Studies Abroad Advisor

4.  Confirm your Acceptance and Complete Signature Documents
After you have been accepted, you will have 10 days to decide if you would like to participate in your selected program. You will be required to submit additional materials (material submissions and electronic signature documents), which vary from program to program.

5.  Prepare for Your Studies Abroad
Once you are accepted, you will now move onto the section on "Preparing to go Abroad" as listed in the left menu. Please read all information listed in this section.
